Joe Henderson - Power to the People (1969)

By the looks of things, alot of you dug that last Joe Henderson album I "upped," so, here's another. http://rapidshare.com/files/28473976/Power_to_the_People.zip Not AS electric as the last one, and definately not AS melodic (probably due to the expertise of piano great Herbie Hancock on keys, bass legend Ron Carter on both the stand-up AND electric bass, and let's not forget about Jack DeJohnette playing all over this mother) but still an outstanding album by far. I tend to like this one a little more, because sometimes you just aren't in the mood for a jam-filled album full of tracks with the players just going off, and showing you what they can do. This line up does exactly the same thing, but maintains the melody while doing so. They aren't just riding a riff for 7 or 8 minutes, they're actually playing a composed song. It my song like I'm down talking this album, but I'm not, I just love this one a little more. It's like having two beautiful girlfriends with-in arms reach, you kind help but like the more experienced one more than the other. Anyways the line-up is as goes...

1. Black Narcissus
2. Afro-Centric
3. Opus One-Point Five
4. Isotope
5. Power To The People
6. Lazy Afternoon
7. Foresight And Afterthought

Personnel includes : Joe Henderson (tenor saxophone); Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Jack De Johnette, Mike Lawrence.

Enjoy, and stay tuned for more, I just got something HOT in the mail!!!

David Axelrod - Strange Ladies (1977)

I can't consider very many people a God to me, but I don't have to think twice about calling David Axelrod one. Not considered his best album out there, but definately contains two of the best tracks he's ever made. Only posting it because I haven't seen it done so at all, unless I'm not looking hard enough. Ripped from an actual vinyl, that I ACTUALLY own... Seems to be what I'm only gonna be posting so I can get my credibility stats up with all "true" diggers out there. Anyways, contains the usual. And I hope you get as much play out of it as I have in the past. Peace. http://rapidshare.com/files/27942416/Axelrod_-_Mujer_Extrana.zip

1. Aunt Charlotte 4:52
2. Mrs. O.J.A. 5:40
3. Mujer Extrana (Strange Lady) 9:17
4. Sandy 5:40
5. Terri's Tune 6:45
6. Tony Poem 4:47

Features to many people in his personel to name. Sorry.

Joe Henderson - Multiple (1973)

A great time to be a jazz musician, as far as I'm concerned... The album is definately a stray aware from the conventional jazz structure, and leans more in the direction of funk rythms, and spontanous playing, (special thanx to Jack DeJohnette on drums, Dave Holland on bass, and Art Jenkins on percussion). Henderson's vocals on some trax help move some of the tunes in a direction that he would pursue even further with later albums, but adds enormously to the melodic playing on this particular venture... He is by far one of the most over looked sax players of his time, but as an artist, I think he enjoyed that fact very much. Features Joe Henderson (trumpet) Larry Willis (keys) James Ulmer (guitars) John Thomas (guitar) Dave Holland (bass) Jack DeJohnette (drums) Arthur Jenkins (percussion).

1. Tress-Cun-Deo-La 10:36
2. Bwaata 10:56
3. Song For Sinners 6:26
4. Turned Around 6:39
5. Me, Among Others 7:05
6. Turned Around (Exceprt) 2:43

As usual, contains album art, and track listing (for those obsessive conpulsive music listeners such as myself). Ripped @ 192 from the actual CD (don't hate 'cause it ain't vinyl, but I had to get it), curtisy of yours truely. All mp3 format this time, 'cause a few of you cats out there said my files weren't working. Track #6 doesn't appear on the album, but is edited down as it has showed up on about every jazz/funk compilation out there. Enjoy. More Joe to come pretty soon.

Miles Davis - Isle of Wight - 1970

Something else I think eveyone should hear...

http://rapidshare.com/files/24223424/_Call_It_Anything..._.m4a

Not many people even knew that Miles played @ the Isle of Wight festival in 1970,
but he did, and totally tore it up. This is Miles & his band in rare form, right before
he took off into that outer space funk. Roughly just before the Cellar Door Sessions
& On The Corner came about. Check it out!!! Add it to your collection.
