THE MUSIC CLASSIC INFO

Upon leaving to perform at the Sundance Film Festival in January, while catching up with my weekly dose of "ass-kicking," courtesy of Jay Potts & his webcomic "World of Hurt," I was struck with a melody. It was another 2 weeks before I was actually able to sit down in front of the Fender Rhodes and work it out, and another few months before I was able to finally conceptualize the mood & direction I wanted this bass heavy diddy to go. In the end, I was pleased with the feeling that this song asked of the listener, and I think it's the perfect fit for what it is that ISAIAH "PASTOR" HURT embodies: pure ass-kicking sensibilities!! A derivitive of instrumental breaks from soundtracks past, and library music of the 60's & 70's, I chose to make this an amalgam of my influences, of both past & present, and pay homage to the feeling that Jay Potts' strip gives to me...

Thanks to my man FRAYKER BREAKS for directing me towards this one... Do some research, it contains the famous Dj Shadow drum break from "Drums of Death" off the UNKLE Lp. Enjoy. This shit's hot.

Huge thanks to Funk my Soul, and Nikos1109, formally of Lost In Tyme for bringing this one to light for us all. And special thanks to the RZA & the Wu-Tang, who without, I prolly never would've even known who O.V. Wright was. And if you listen close, you can almost here the very familiar "Al Green" production values; AJ knows what I'm talking about... Still looking into why they sound so similar, so if anyone can give any pointers, or albums for that matter, that would be hot. Anyways. Enjoy. Peace!

Ok, now I suck, because I hadn't heard this before... I've always wanted to, and people have always said that I needed to, but it's one of those things that I never got around to, until my buddy Mike got that shit on vinyl. But then I still couldn't listen to it because of technical difficulties with my vinyl machine. So the search began, and I found it here, here, and here...

Got this from my man over at the Strictly Beats blogs spot, but because of all the troubles he's been having with folks reporting his links, I decided to "up it" myself, and not use his links. Much respect though; I know he dropped some cash to get this one from across the ocean. Anyways, classic & amazing tunes that the PR chose, but unfortuneately, he fucks it up with his whack-ass improved MC presence and lame ass call-ins by fellow producers and such. Over all, a must have stictly for tunes alone. Back soon. Peace!!!
